William H MacY Plans Gigot Remake
Actor William H Macy is planning a remake of 1962 classic GIGOT.
The original version of the movie, directed by Gene Kelly and starring Jackie Gleason as a mute who befriends the young daughter of a prostitute, won acclaim in its time.
Macy says, "We borrowed heavily from the original, but we turned it into a Christmas movie - and it's more of a current urban story with a certain grittiness about it."
The film is expected to be a TV movie for American cable network TNT.
