Wilder Retracts Depp Criticism

That movie is just a freakfest...I have always liked Depp & Burton, but what was that anyway??? The kids were not very memorable, puhleeze give me the original Veruca Salt and Charlie Bucket anyday. ...and why did I feel like Depp was a cross between Michael Jackson and some actress I recall on sitcoms, "Don't ya' know???" And true to the book...since when was there a maniacal, child-abandoning dentist/orthodontist in the book??? Or thousands of cloned little Far East indians??? The songs are all that seemed to be overtly true to form and Dahl was a marvelous storyteller...but not necessarily a lyricist.The original 1971 songs made you happy and want to sing along...what was Deep Roy even saying, I was too distracted by all of the vinyl myself. Oh well...I'll stick to the wild hair and vivid blue eyes of Gene Wilder forever.
