Wembley Concerts Cancelled

Concerts scheduled to be played at London's new Wembley Stadium over the summer (06) have been cancelled because the building work on the arena will not be completed in time. American rockers BON JOVI were booked to be the first band to play at the completely rebuilt venue on 10 June (06), while THE ROLLING STONES, ROBBIE WILLIAMS and reformed British boyband TAKE THAT had also sold out hotly anticipated shows in August, September and June respectively. It is believed the KEEP THE FAITH stars will move their 10 and 11 June shows to the nearby Twickenham Stadium, which is the home of English rugby, while Take That have confirmed they will switch to the Milton Keynes Bowl in Buckinghamshire on 24 and 25 June. The Rolling Stones and Williams are currently searching for alternative venues to stage their respective 22 August and 14 September gigs. Work began on rebuilding Wembley Stadium in 2000 after the original arena was demolished. The revamped venue was originally set to open its gates last autumn (05) - but its start date has slipped and slipped as contractors failed to meet targets.
