Waxwork Beatles Sell At Auction
Waxwork heads of THE Beatles from the cover of their classic album SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND sold for $146,700 (GBP81,500) at auction yesterday (27OCT05).
The busts of John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Sir Paul McCartney, as seen on the front of the 1967 record, were purchased at the Music Legends sale in London waxwork museum Madame Tussauds.
Two signature Beatles suits sold for $117,000 (GBP65,000), while suits worn by the Fab Four to promote their 1964 movie A HARD DAY'S NIGHT sold for $41,400 (GBP23,000).
Elsewhere, a record contract which once belonged to THE Rolling Stones fetched $31,500 (GBP17,500).
The sale, arranged by auctioneers Cooper Owen was attended by celebrities including British royal Prince William and entrepreneur SIR Richard Branson.
