Watership Down Island Up For Sale
The isolated Welsh island which inspired the classic tale WATERSHIP DOWN is up for sale for the first time in 300 years.
The 247 acre Skokholm Island, off the coast of Pembrokeshire, was made famous by naturalist RONALD LOCKLEY, who set up Britain's first bird observatory there.
His research on the island's rabbit population formed the basis of RICHARD ADAMS' novel Watership Down, which led to the 1978 animated movie.
The owners of the island hope to fetch $1.3 million (GBP722,000) from the sale.
