Waters Roots For Gay Brokeback Movie

Director JOHN WATERS is thrilled gay cowboy romance BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is up for eight Oscars, because it will change America's perception of gay relationships for the better.

The 59-year-old film-maker is convinced ANG LEE's film, which is nominated for awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor, will have a deep impact on Middle America like no other movie focusing on homosexuality has.

He tells New York Daily News, "I liked the movie, but I also like that it's playing in Middle America, and it's probably the most gay-positive movie that they've ever had in that part of the country."
