Wahlberg Desperate To Go British
MARK WAHLBERG begged THE ITALIAN JOB director F GARY GRAY to let him perfect an English accent for the remake - but the movie maker refused.
Gray was put off after watching Wahlberg's troubled take on the English accent in movie hit ROCK STAR - but the BOOGIE NIGHTS actor insists he was supposed to be bad in that picture.
He explains, "In that movie I got to do a bad British accent and for some reason Gary thought that was me giving my best effort, and when I suggested it he said, 'There's no way in hell.'
"I had been studying MICHAEL CAINE, the star of the original film, and I would have literally gone to London for a year and really got it right, but there was no way in hell that was happening."23/05/2003 09:13
