Jon Voight - Voight's Scarf Trademark Was Unintentional

Actor JON VOIGHT started wearing scarves to high profile events by accident, after struggling with a troublesome tie at the Oscars.

Voight, father of ANGELINA JOLIE, has been photographed at several events with a scarf draped over his suit, but he admits that the fashion statement was accidental.

He says, "I wear a scarf always to the Academy Awards, a white scarf because at one time I was asked to go to the awards. I was nominated for something and I left the house... and (I was) nervous and I put on the wrong shirt on and I couldn't get the tie on. I couldn't close the shirt so I didn't know what to do.

"So, as I was going toward downtown Los Angeles I saw a clothing store and I stopped and I ran in and I got a white scarf, just so that people wouldn't care if I had an open shirt.

"The next day, everybody said, 'What a fashion statement!' And so from then on I've worn the scarf."
