Venice Film Festival Slims Down
The 2004 VENICE FILM FESTIVAL will be a stripped-down affair, despite the presence of films starring TOM HANKS and NICOLE KIDMAN.
New boss MARCO MULLER plans to open the 61st festival on 1 September (04) with STEVEN SPIELBERG's THE TERMINAL, starring Hanks and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES.
However, Muller is determined this year's Venice Film Festival will be "a thinner and more nimble one".
The festival will be split into several sections - with 21 films competing for the prestigious GOLDEN LION prize including BIRTH starring NICOLE KIDMAN and VANITY FAIR with REESE WITHERSPOON.
Film director JOHN BOORMAN will head the jury for the Golden Lion - with SPIKE LEE and SCARLETT JOHANSSON part of his team.30/07/2004 19:47
