The Roots' Stripping Incentive
Rap collective THE ROOTS worked out the ultimate way to attract collaborators on their latest album THE TIPPING POINT - they installed a stripper pole in their studio.
The five musicians attracted the likes of JOHN MAYER, PHARRELL WILLIAMS and LIVING COLOUR's VERNON REID to work with them on their album, and they're sure it was bandmember ?UESTLOVE's idea of having a stripper pole installed which inspired more than 80 hours of recorded music.
?uestlove tells COMPLEX magazine, "In one room, there was a legitimate studio set up with everything connected to the PRO TOOLS rig. (We were) jamming from 4 pm to 4 am.
"On the other side was the reception cum strip club area. We became the world's fairest pimps; b*tches was like, 'Wait a minute, how much you make out front?'"21/07/2004 08:53
