The Rock Urges Gay Stars To Come Out

Wrestler-turned-movie star DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON is urging his gay celebrity pals to come clean about their sexuality because he's convinced it will be a career boost for them.

THE SCORPION KING star plays a gay bodyguard in new JOHN TRAVOLTA comedy BE COOL and he claims the role has made him realise that homosexuality is no longer something that needs to be hidden in Hollywood.

He tells gay magazine OUT, "I know a lot of gay actors in Hollywood who don't want to come out, and whatever the reasons are I respect that.

"But I think if people love you now, and if you came out, they would love you more, and if they didn't, then they weren't real people to begin with."

I feel it would be a great thing for gay actors and actresses to come out. It would be a positive step towards showing the world that as homosexuals, we are no different than anyone else. Not to mention the courage and strength it would give many gay youth to be content with themselves, just by being able to identify with someone famous just by their sexuality. A role model for them to look up to within the gay community. Especially since statistically speaking, gay youth are 10 times more likely to commit suicide over their straight counterparts. Yes, actors and actresses deserve their right to privacy, but as role models, they also have to step up, and encourage positive action towards equality, and if this includes coming out of the closet, then so be it. As someone who was "outed" at a young age, 14 to be exact, I am much happier being an honest and out person than I feel I ever could have been in the closet. I had no secrets to hide from anyone, I didn't have to worry about rumours being spread around, etc.So, in conclusion, I urge and plead to all LGBTQ celebrities, please come out of your closets, and give LGBTQ youth someone to look upto, to adore, a goal to obtain. Give a gay kid a reason to be.

an actor must appeal to the majority of the publicto make a living in the arts. their private livesis exactly that....you don't need to express yourlikes and dislikes when you apply or do a job in thegeneral sector.some things are no ones business except to your family, friends and special one in your life. All this does is create an opinion that has nothing to do with your talent and can affect your wages if it isunfavorable.
