The Darkness Triumph At Kerrang! Awards

Hot British band The Darkness scored two awards at last night's Kerrang! awards, which honour the best in rock and metal music.

The GROWING ON ME group scooped the Best Live Act and Best Album gongs, an amazing achievement as their LP PERMISSION TO LAND was only released on 7 July (03).

The other big winners at the event, which took place last night (21AUG03) at London's ROYAL LANCASTER HOTEL, were American veterans Metallica, who were inaugurated into the Hall Of Fame.

Best Video: ELECTRIC SIX - GAY BAR

Best Single: GOOD CHARLOTTE - LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND THE FAMOUS

Spirit of Rock: Jackass

Classic Songwriter: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Best International Newcomer: Evanescence

Best Album: PERMISSION TO LAND

Best British Act: Feeder

Best International Act: Linkin Park

Spirit of Independence: Turbonegro

Event of the Year: DOWNLOAD

Best British Newcomer: Funeral For A Friend

Hall of Fame: METALLICA.
