The Darkness Channel Hero Mercury
Rock legend FREDDIE MERCURY is helping glam rockers THE DARKNESS record their new album, from beyond the grave.
Frontman JUSTIN HAWKINS is a massive fan of Mercury - who died of AIDS in 1991 - and his band QUEEN, and he cites them as a major influence behind the I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE rockers' music.
So they jumped at the chance to make their follow-up to 2003 debut LP PERMISSION TO LAND in the same studio in which Queen recorded their smash hit single BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.
Hawkins says of the new LP-in-progress, "Studio stuff is going well. It's about the biggest drum sound you'll ever hear on a rock record and that's all there is to it at the moment. We're in the same studio that they recorded Bohemian Rhapsody in, so I'm using Freddie Mercury's piano and stuff."06/05/2005 17:06
