Tennis Babes Take To The Jungle

Tennis stars VENUS WILLIAMS and MARIA SHARAPOVA took advantage of their unfamiliar surroundings ahead of their exhibition match in Thailand yesterday (02JAN05) - and rode elephants.

The sporty pair were in the Asian country - which was hit by the deadly tsunami last Sunday (26DEC04) - preparing for the upcoming AUSTRALIAN OPEN, and they were both eager to sample the activities of the local area.

Williams says, "I would never imagine that I would ride an elephant in Thailand. I've never had this kind of experience because we don't have things like this back home in California."

After their jungle adventure, Sharapova went on to beat Williams 6-4, 6-3 in the TAT Tennis Invitational Exhibition at the 700th Anniversary Stadium.
