Swinton And Adamson Dismiss Narnia's Christian Undertones

The stars and director of new movie The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe have laughed off the importance of Christianity in CS LEWIS' CHRONICLES OF NARNIA books.

The fantasy tales have been heavily criticised for the Christian doctrines they contain, but film-maker Andrew Adamson and actress Tilda Swinton insist the allegorical importance of the stories is minor in the big screen adaptation of the second book.

Adamson says, "It's open to the audience to interpret. When I read the book as a child I accepted it as a pure adventure story."

Swinton, who plays the WHITE WITCH, says, "Faith is in the eye of the beholder. You can make a religious allegory out of anything if that's what you're interested in.

"You can make a religious allegory out of anything if that's what you're interested in."
