Swedish Film-Makers Win Tv Lawsuit
Two Swedish film-makers have successfully sued a TV channel for interrupting their movies with commercial breaks. An appeals court in capital Stockholm agreed with CLAES ERIKSSON and VILGOT SJOMAN, who died on Sunday (09APR06), that their artistic integrity had been damaged by the adverts on TV4. The movies were made before Swedish law was amended to allow breaks during films. Speaking after the verdict, Eriksson maintained his fellow plaintiff would have been "incredibly happy" with the result. He added, "This has taken four years of our time, and it is good that it has not been in vain."
