Strokes Nearly Died Before Gig

American rockers THE STROKES nearly died in a harrowing tour bus disaster hours before their performance at Scottish concert T IN THE PARK earlier this month (11JUL04).

The LAST NITE group were rushing to Dublin airport in Ireland to get to the high profile Balado Airfield gig, when the accelerator cable on their vehicle snapped. Fortunately their flight was delayed by an hour enabling them to get to the stage on time.

Band members JULIAN CASABLANCAS, NICK VALENSI, ALBERT HAMMOND, NIKOLAI FRAITURE and FABRIZIO MORETTI are still shaken but are thankful they escaped the accident unhurt.
