Streep's Debut Turned Her Against Hollywood
OSCAR-winning actress MERYL STREEP was so disgusted by her first film JULIE, she considered giving up her movie career.
Streep made her film debut in the 1977 war drama, co-starring JANE FONDA and VANESSA REDGRAVE, but was so disillusioned by her appearance and voice in the movie, she temporarily turned against the film industry.
She recalls, "When I saw myself on screen for the first time, I was horrified. I had a bad wig and they took the words from a scene I shot with Jane and put them in my mouth in a different scene.
"I thought, 'I've made a terrible mistake, no more movies. I hate this business.'"01/11/2004 17:26
