Stone Loses Battle To Block Castro Dvd Release
Movie maker OLIVER STONE has lost the first round of his battle to block the release of his FIDEL CASTRO documentary COMANDANTE (corr) in Spain.
The NATURAL BORN KILLERS director instructed his lawyers to file for a preliminary injunction against the DVD's distributors MANGA FILMS in January (04), after he learned that extras had been added to the package without his consent.
Stone's Spanish attorneys GOMEZ-ACEBO + POMBO claim the extras damaged the integrity of the film about the Cuban leader and Stone's reputation and right to control his image.
One added scene that Stone is believed to be unhappy about is one in which he jokes about offering Castro Viagra pills, which he claims to have in his possession.
A Madrid court has found no reason for halting the DVD's release. Stone plans to appeal the verdict.
Comandante was shot during Stone's three-day visit to Castro's home in 2002.19/03/2004 19:29
