Sting Plays First Tsunami Aid Thai Concert

STING has immortalised his name in history as the first international star to step over Thailand's battered shores and perform in the country since the tsunami disaster.

The concert - held in the Asian country's capital Bangkok - raised $50,000 (GBP26,315), including a generous $20,000 (GBP10,526) donation from the FIELDS OF GOLD star himself, for victims of the 26 December (04) killer tidal wave.

In a bid to further help survivors of the tragedy stave off disease and rebuild their communities, Sting has lined up fundraising concerts in Malaysia and India.

The British rocker will also perform on 10 February (05) at a massive benefit gig in Perth, Australia, with all of the net proceeds going to the relief efforts in Southern Asia.
