Jeff Newman - Steel Guitar Star Dies

Steel Guitar Hall of Fame member JEFF NEWMAN has died in a plane crash in Tennessee. He was 62.

Newman was killed instantly when the ultralight plane he was piloting crashed on his private runway in Watertown.

The musician was perhaps best known as a music instructor - he produced a series of instructional videos and operated Watertown's JEFFRAN COLLEGE OF PEDAL STEEL.

Authorities say Newman was attempting to land the small plane when it began spiralling toward the runway at a steep angle. No other passengers were aboard.
