Statham Takes Transporter Sequel To The Top
British action man JASON STATHAM has shocked Hollywood again by taking the sequel to his sleeper hit THE TRANSPORTER to the top of the box office.
THE TRANSPORTER 2 pulled in an amazing $20.2 million (GBP11.2 million) over the long Labor Day weekend in America to end another surprise hit, THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN's reign at the top.
The 40-Year-Old Virgin, starring funnyman STEVE CARELL, enjoyed another respectable week - earning $16.5 million (GBP9.2 million).
Meanwhile, Statham's fellow Brits, RALPH FIENNES and RACHEL WEISZ, also enjoyed a good weekend at the box office.
Their new thriller THE CONSTANT GARDENER, in which they play husband and wife, debuted at number three taking $10.8 million (GBP6 million).
