Stars Rework We Are Family For Katrina Victims
SISTER SLEDGE's dancefloor mega-hit WE ARE FAMILY is being reworked as an all-star charity record to raise cash for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Superstar producer RODNEY JERKINS has gathered stars like MARIAH CAREY, MARY J BLIGE, BRANDY and Sister Sledge themselves to re-record the classic track.
Jerkins says he was compelled to do his bit when he realised fundraising efforts for those left homeless by the August (05) storms were drying up.
He explains, "It's not over. People still don't have homes, people still don't have clothes, and I feel it's our obligation,as people, to help."
And the man behind hits by Carey and MICHAEL JACKSON admits he has been overwhelmed with celebrity support: "We were only going to do about eight artists, but it's probably going to be about 15 artists by the time it's done."
