Stars Join Escovedo Benefit Album

LOS LOBOS, JACKSON BROWNE and BILLY CORGAN are adding their names to the list of pop musicians contributing songs to an album to benefit ailing singer-songwriter ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO.

Others already signed up for the double album POR VIDA - set for release in April (04) - include JOHN CALE, the JAYHAWKS, PETER CASE, IAN HUNTER, the artist's brother PETE ESCOVEDO and his nice SHEILA E.

Escovedo is in Texas undergoing treatment for hepatitis C, the disease responsible for his collapse and hospitalisation last April (03) after a performance in Phoenix, Arizona.

Several benefit concerts have been staged in the past to help Escovedo, who has no insurance to pay medial bills.
