Stars Come Out For Peace Vigil

DANNY DeVITO and his wife RHEA PERLMAN, Nia Vardalos and Diane Lane were among the celebrities who got the New Year's Eve celebrations off to an early start with a peace vigil on Saturday (31DEC05).

The stars lit candles at noon as part of a Resolution For Peace vigil in Santa Monica, California.

The celebrities, who also included Maria Bello, Blair Underwood and Josh Brolin, signed a petition for a peaceful end to world strife.

Vigil organiser TOM ORTENBERG says, "It was a beautiful get together of people putting their holiday plans on hold and turning out in bad weather to make their voices heard."
