Star-Studded Charity Track For Tsunami Victims
A host of stars including SIR CLIFF RICHARD and BOY GEORGE are making a charity song to raise money for victims of Sunday's (26DEC04) tragic tsunami in Asia.
British DJ MIKE READ penned the ballad GRIEF NEVER GROWS OLD and hopes to raise more than $4 million (GBP2 million) for the cause, by having it recorded by a supergroup under the name of ONE WORLD..
Read has asked ex-BOYZONE hunk RONAN KEATING to sing on the track as well as the BEE GEES' ROBIN and BARRY GIBB, jazz star JAMIE CULLUM, OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN and CHRIS REA.
Read explains, "It's a natural home for it because people kept saying to me, 'it's such a good song', but it's such a sad song.
"I was totally shocked at the enormity and suddenness of the disaster and in tears on seeing the orphaned children wandering aimlessly in search of their parents. I'd only be pleased in terms of what it meant for sales if it got to number one."02/01/2005 13:24
