Spelling To Sue Former Nurse For Breach-Of-Contract
LATEST: US TV mogul AARON SPELLING has been told he can pursue a breach-of-contract lawsuit against his former nurse, but a Los Angeles Superior Court judge yesterday (18APR06) dismissed the defamation accusation included in legal papers. The 83-year-old hit CHARLENE RICHARDS with a $5 million (GBP2.9 million) lawsuit in November (05), accusing her of violating a confidentiality agreement and of spreading rumours of sexual harassment. Richards filed a sexual harassment lawsuit in Los Angeles on 26 January (06), claiming the CHARLIE'S ANGELS and MELROSE PLACE TV mogul repeatedly placed his hand on her "groin and genital area" and grabbed her breasts. Richards' lawyer sent letters to more than 500 actresses who have worked with Spelling, inquiring if he behaved inappropriately with them. In his lawsuit, Spelling claims the letter, entitled 'Survey On Sexual Harassment By Aaron Spelling', defamed him. But Superior Court Judge WILLIAM HIGHBERGER ruled Richards was within her right to pursue litigation when she sent the letter, and dismissed the defamation portion of Spelling's suit. Lawyers for both Spelling and Richards plan to appeal the decision.
