South Park Attacked By New Zealand Catholics
Shock cartoon series SOUTH PARK is at the centre of another controversy after Catholic leaders in New Zealand publicly berated TV chiefs there for airing an episode featuring a bleeding statue of the Virgin Mary. The irreverent US show has recently come under fire from its star ISAAC HAYES over a controversial episode which ridiculed the soul singer's Church of Scientology beliefs. Hayes has since quit the show. And now New Zealand's Catholics are upset by an episode which aired there last month (FEB06). Bishops and church leaders have condemned the bosses of TV network C4 for airing the episode, titled BLOODY MARY. TV executives issued a public apology yesterday (23MAR06), adding they will never repeat the episode.
