Eminem - Source Employees Charged With Attempted Murder After Shoot-Out

Two employees of hard-hitting hip-hop magazine The Source have been charged with attempted murder after a nightclub shooting in New York on Saturday (23JUL05).

Marketing director ALVIN CHILDS and merchandiser LEEROY PEEPLES (corr) have each been charged with three counts of attempted murder after three men were shot and left for dead outside the Limerick House nightspot, which is across the street from The Source's headquarters.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges at their arraignment yesterday (25JUL05), and were later released on bail.

Childs and Peeples have signed up top attorney MEL SACHS to represent them in court. Sachs represented rapper LIL' KIM during her federal perjury trial earlier this year (05).

It isn't the first time The Source has been caught up in controversy - the magazine's bosses were caught up in a messy copyright battle with EMINEM last year (04) after airing extracts from a racially-charged 'diss' (disrespectful comments) tape the rapper recorded during a rash moment as a teenager over a phone line.

The Source was found in contempt of court and bosses were forced to pay Eminem and his Shady Records label a hefty compensation fee.

The rapper withdrew his lawsuit in March (05), stating that he was "done" with The Source.
