Sopranos Star Aims For Plea Deal Over Murder
LATEST: Former THE SOPRANOS actor LILLO BRANCATO JR is hoping to strike a deal with prosecutors over his involvement in the murder of a New York City police officer. The troubled star, 29, faces charges of second-degree murder, while his friend STEVEN ARMENTO, 48, has been accused of first-degree murder for fatally shooting off-duty cop DANIEL ENCHAUTEGUI during a burglary in the Bronx last December (05). Following a pre-trial hearing in Bronx Supreme Court yesterday (13MAR06), Brancato Jr's lawyer says, "He's not a murderer, and the conduct that he engaged in is a far cry from murder." Brancato Jr insists he didn't known Armento - father of his ex-girlfriend STEFANIE - was carrying a gun. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
