Skynyrd Rocker To Have Surgery On His Throat
LYNYRD SKYNYRD rocker JOHNNY VAN ZANT is to have surgery to remove a polyp on his vocal cord after struggling to sing for months.
The singer, who now also fronts country act VAN ZANT, has been fighting voice problems, which forced him to cancel appearances at the CMA Music festival in June (05), for the past year
He has been advised to get the problem fixed by medics at Vanderbilt Voice Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
A spokesman for the centre says, "Mr Van Zant continues to suffer from acute and chronic inflammation of his vocal cord and development of a large vocal cord polyp.
"His condition will require surgery and a post-operative rehabilitation that will prevent him from performing for three months."
The news means Van Zant will be forced to pull the plug on a number of upcoming TV and radio appearances.
