Sixties Star Smith Will Never Walk Again

20 July 2005

Dave Clark Five's frontman MIKE SMITH has been told he'll never walk again - following an accident in 2003 which left him paralysed from the waist down.

The BITS AND PIECES singer broke his neck in a fall from a fence at his former house in Spain.

He moved back to his native Britain after the injury and has spent the last two years in a London hospital, where he's on a ventilator to assist his breathing because of lung damage he sustained from the accident.

And doctors have now told the 61-year-old his legs will never work again.

The 1960's star's wife ARLENE GOREK says, "He's been in the hospital ever since.

"It's been really, really scary. I've almost lost him three different times."
