Sideways And Foxx Lead Screen Actors Guild Nominations

11 January 2005

Sleeper movie hit Sideways has been given yet another Oscars boost after picking up four nominations at this morning's (11JAN05) Screen Actors Guild (SAG) AWARDS launch.

The wine-drinking comedy claimed Best Cast, Best Actor (Paul Giamatti), Supporting Actor (THOMAS HAYDEN CHURCH) and Supporting Actress (VIRGINIA MADSEN) honours to lead the pack.

But Jamie Foxx remains the toast of Hollywood - he picked up four nominations for his work in Ray (Best Actor and Cast), Collateral (Best Supporting Actor) and TV movie REDEMPTION (Best Actor in a TV Movie).

Meanwhile, OSCAR winner Hilary Swank is also celebrating after picking up three nods for her work in boxing drama Million Dollar Baby (Best Actress and Cast) and TV movie IRON-JAWED ANGELS (Best Actress in a TV Movie).

Other big successes on the big screen included Finding Neverland, which garnered a Best Supporting Actor nod for young British newcomer FREDDIE HIGHMORE among its three nominations, Hotel Rwanda, The Aviator and Million Dollar Baby, which also claimed three nominations.

On the small screen, it looks like the SAG Awards on 5 February (04) will be a big night for The Sopranos, with four nominations, and sitcom EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, which picked up three nods.
