Sharpton: 'Kanye Shouldn't Have Been Censored'

American politician and civil rights campaigner REVEREND Al Sharpton has slammed US TV network NBC for editing Kanye West's outburst against US President George W Bush from the Hurricane Katrina telethon earlier this month (02SEP05).

Sharpton insists West should have been allowed to speak freely on behalf of the survivors, and is convinced had the rapper insulted anyone other than the American leader, his comments would have been left uncensored.

Sharpton says, "If he got on there calling women names, they wouldn't have censored him. If he got on there saying something derogatory, they wouldn't have censored him.

"For him to stand up for his own people, they censor. I think they should let Kanye say what needs to be said and let the president defend it if he wants to."

At the telethon, West blasted Bush and the media for their portrayal of African-American survivors of the hurricane, saying, "If you see a black family it's looting but if it's a white family they are looking for food... George Bush doesn't care about black people."

While West's controversial comments were aired on America's east coast broadcast of the show, the star's final comment was edited out of the west coast airing, which was broadcast three hours later."

I agree with Rev.AL! Why censor a remark about Bush on tv when words such as B***h and N*gga is being used? If Kanye had been dissing women or if he had made remarks about anybody else, he would not have been censored! It's just that Bush was caught off guard and didn't have time for someone to write his response while he was on vacation. So he sent his dumb wife to pass out water to African Americans on the Gulf Coast! Thanks Laura, that water sure did save a life!! But my question is..Why is Bush always on vacation at the time of a crisis?? Sept 11, On vacation! Hurricane Katrina, on vacation! While all our fellow American citizens are being killed in Iraq...Bush is still on vacation!!

I agree with kanye West as well as Al Sharpton.Bush is profiting from the war being he owns his own oil refineries,he is profiting the most from the New Orleans disaster as well,OIL.There should have been immediate response while this was happening to these beautiful people.Black America has been issued a wake up call by the government themselves, and it's about time someone woke up and heard the alarms.I am a blackman and I was and am offended by what did not happen quick enough.if that was not the icing on the cake, the minute Kanye West spoke the very next day Bush is shown to the world hugging a black person,Planned!,and don't forget the almighty token ms.RICE,denouncing racism in the whitehouse,by the way why is it called the whitehouse? As if she speaks for Black America.Ask the victims what they feel, scared of the truth?Air that interview for the world to see. This is the same man who started a war in another people's country and (there skin is also dark by the way)the same man who has ties to the ben laden family and never speaks of the so called war in Afghanistan.I will prove my point,In the Conga's there is torture, beheadings,Rape,Murder,Hostage situations, ect.Bush has never spoke the words Conga out of his mouth to the people, isn't this type of crimes being committed to it's people, the same type of crime he is punishing saddam for?Stick to the factsand the truth can only betold one way and that is straight out.BUSH does not like black people unless they are bettering his deceit.
