Sex Pistols Frontman Threatens To Quit Tv Show

SEX PISTOLS singer JOHN LYDON is threatening to quit a British TV reality show after clashing with the crew and refusing to meet fellow contestants.

Lydon - whose stage name was JOHNNY ROTTEN - had a vicious fight with a cameraman on arriving in Queensland, Australia, for the filming of survival show I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE!

The punk legend, 47, attacked the cameraman after mistaking his England rugby shirt for the kit of London soccer team ARSENAL - who Lydon supports.

The unpredictable entertainer then refused to leave his room in the luxurious VERSACE HOTEL to meet the other nine contestants - including glamour model JORDAN and former ATOMIC KITTEN singer KERRY McFADDEN. Finally five production staff were able to convince Lydon to make a brief appearance in the hotel's presidential suite.

After the incident, Lydon joked, "I don't give a s*** if I win or not because I'm going to be in the jungle with loads of animals.

"At least I'll be at home."

John Lydon Blasts Margaret Thatcher Gloaters 3600744 News

Punk icon John Lydon has slammed Brits who are celebrating the death of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, branding them "cowards".

The controversial ex-leader died on Monday (08Apr13) after suffering a stroke, and her passing has prompted praise and criticism in equal measure in the U.K.

Some opponents of Thatcher have caused outrage by holding parties to celebrate her death, but Sex Pistols frontman Lydon has blasted them for being disrespectful and trampling on the grief of the former politician's loved ones.

Lydon, whose band broke up a year before Thatcher came to power in 1979, says, "I'm not happy about the boo boo parties... Her politics were really dreadful and derisive and caused a great many issues for me when I was young, for all of us trying to go through that. But that don't mean (sic) I am gonna dance on her grave, as they say. I'm not that kind of person.

"I was her enemy in her life but I will not be her enemy in her death. I am not a coward... My entire life, socially, was all around the Maggie era. That was the great challenge as a Sex Pistol was how to deal with Margaret Thatcher. I think we did rather good."

However, asked if he will be watching Thatcher's ceremonial funeral in central London next Wednesday (17Apr13), Lydon replied, "I might have something better to do."

John Lydon: 'I Was Too Busy Playing Daddy To Reform Pil' 3074508 News Punk icon John Lydon was too busy playing dad to late stepdaughter Ari Up's twins to revive Public Image Ltd. prior to last year (11), insisting he took his role as a father figure very seriously.
The Sex Pistols star reveals he took on guardian duties to The Slits singer's kids almost two decades ago and put his music career on hold to make sure the troublesome twins got a good education.
He tells RollingStone.com, "Arianna (aka Ari Up), God rest her soul... her kids came to live with me some 15, 20 years back now. I had to get involved in Parent Teacher Association meetings and all of that.
"I'm the kind of bloke, where, if I'm going to play the daddy role, I do it."
And he admits his grandchildren weren't the best behaved kids: "God, they were horrible to deal with! I love them very much, but they were so bad, and in many ways reminded me of me when I was at that age."
Ari Up lost her battle with cancer in 2010, aged 48. Lydon announced the sad news on his website.

Noel Says Liam Bullied Beady Eye Into Creation 2533558 News

Noel Gallagher claims his brother Liam "bullied" the rest of Oasis into starting Beady Eye with him.

The 'Everybody's on the Run' singer quit the super-group in August 2009 after a huge pre-gig bust-up with his bandmate-and-sibling and he believes Liam harassed the other three members - Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Chris Sharrock - into forming a group.

Noel told the New York Times newspaper: "I never said to them, 'I'm leaving, and if you want to come with me, come.' Liam being Liam bullied them into starting a band that night. It's like Lyndon Johnson being sworn in on the airplane on the way back from Dallas before the body is even cold."

Noel also claims Liam was the reason why Oasis were never as successful in America as they were across the rest of the world.

The guitarist claims his unpredictable brother's decision to walk out on their tour in 1996 just 15 minutes before the band was due to board a flight Stateside to buy a house with his then-wife Patsy Kensit killed the band "stone dead" in the US.

Noel said: "Liam had actually made it to the airport in England, and as I'm getting on the plane he's getting off because his wife called, saying, 'We need to buy a house.' Now, what they were doing for the previous three months is anybody's guess. Probably picking gnats out of each other's hair like monkeys. The first gig was a 16,000-seat arena, and the singer's not turned up. That killed us stone dead in America. We never recovered.

"This is rock 'n' roll. Would Johnny Rotten have gotten a house on the eve of an American tour? Keith Richards? John Lennon? You either want it or you don't, and I wholeheartedly blame him for us never becoming as big in America as we were in England. Admittedly he did buy a nice house."

Liam did rejoin the infamous tour just three days after refusing to fly out, missing just one show, but a furious Noel then quit the run concerts shortly afterwards.

American Idol Fan Dave Grohl 2542796 News

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has started watching 'American Idol' since Steven Tyler became a judge.

The rocker has become a regular viewer of the pop star search show since the Aerosmith star joined the panel along with Jennifer Lopez because he has a lot of respect for the 'Crazy' singer.

Speaking at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 at the 02 Academy Brixton, in London, tonight (23.02.11), he said: "I started watching 'American Idol', like, two weeks ago. I watched it because of Steven Tyler, he's a good guy. It's good that it makes people pay attention to music."

Although he has no problem with the premise of the series, Dave insists it's important for young people to realise you can make music away from the TV cameras.

He added to BANG Showbiz: "Kids should know there are other ways of doing it, you don't have to do it like that, you don't have to do it on TV, you don't have to have that sort of career ambition, you can just do it for fun. You can do it in your room or do it for friends. And you can suck - it's OK!"

The 'Best of You' singer was picking up the Godlike Genius Award at the star-studded ceremony, where guests included Juliette Lewis, Sex Pistols singer John Lydon - also known as Johnny Rotten - and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.

Lydon Explains Duffy Scuffle 1688687 News Punk rocker JOHN LYDON has defended himself after lashing out at Welsh singer DUFFY at a 2008 awards ceremony, insisting he reacted violently after she "leapt" on him.
The Mercy hitmaker was collecting a trophy for Song of the Year at London's MOJO Awards two years ago (08) when the Sex Pistols frontman - also known as Johnny Rotten - pinned her against a wall.
She later said, "He'd been heckling me when I went to pick up an award, shouting 'Duffo', 'Up the Duffy', things like that - nice!
"When I picked up the award, I had to walk past him so I went to say hi and suddenly he had me pinned against the wall. I just went white and had to get away."
But Lydon insists the scuffle was a result of Duffy jumping on him.
He tells Britain's The Sun, "She leapt on my back. I'm not a maypole for her to go swinging off. Until you know who is doing that you are in a compromising position. If you want to say hello to me, then stand in front of me and say hello."

Sex Pistols Letter Ends Hall Of Fame Film 1797293 News The SEX PISTOLS have had the last laugh in their battle with bosses at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio - their expletive-filled letter snubbing induction concludes a tribute film shown at the museum. The punk icons fired off the missive in March (06) when they were inducted into the hall alongside BLACK SABBATH and BLONDIE, insisting they wouldn't be paying for a table at the annual ceremony, which honours new members. In a hand-written statement, former frontman JOHN LYDON - known as JOHNNY ROTTEN during the band's 1970s heyday - called the Cleveland museum "a p**s stain", adding, "We're not coming and we're not your monkey." Lydon has since insisted a hand-written song in the museum's Pistols exhibit is counterfeit. The punk star's letter now ends a tribute film featuring all the Hall Of Fame inductees since the mid-1980s. The screen goes black after the 2006 class is honoured and then Lydon's angry letter appears on screen, leaving rock fans to explain the missive to their confused kids.
