Sex And The City Stars Say Goodbye On Oprah
SARAH JESSICA PARKER has assured fans of her hit show SEX AND THE CITY she's bringing it to an end for their sake.
The actress spoke on OPRAH WINFREY's chat show yesterday (17FEB04), where she was joined by castmates KIM CATTRALL, KRISTIN DAVIS and CYNTHIA NIXON in an emotional TV special.
Parker told fans, "I hope you understand that it is the incredible high regard with which we hold you that helped us make this decision.
"We wanna cross the finish line in full stride and if you think we've done right by you then we have the chance to revisit. If we stay too long at a party, you know we're the first person crossed off the next party list."
Davis fought back tears as she said, "I feel like it's overwhelming and I feel like I won't know what to do. People say, 'What are we gonna do?' I don't know, I'm gonna have an identity crisis, that's what I'm gonna do."
Male castmembers CHRIS NOTH, WILLIE GARSON, MARIO CANTONE, KYLE MACHLACHLAN, JASON LEWIS, EVAN HANDLER and DAVID EIGENBERG were also a part of the onscreen farewell party, taping special messages for the actresses.
And Winfrey showered the studio with her usual generosity by handing out COSABELLA tongs, T-shirts bearing the name of each character and the entire fifth season of Sex and the City on DVD.
As Oprah toasted them all with cosmopolitan cocktails at the end of the show, she said, "Thank you for coming into our lives and heating things up!"
The popular comedy comes to an end on Sunday (22FEB04).22/02/2004 20:57
