Secret Life Of Words Wins The Goyas
Spanish director ISABEL COIXER's English-language film THE SECRET LIFE OF WORDS was the big winner at Spain's annual Goya awards today (30JAN06).
The film, which stars Oscar winner Tim Robbins as a man temporarily blinded after a fire on an oil rig, picked up four gongs at the Madrid ceremony, including Best Film and Best Director.
Fellow Spaniard MONTXO ARMENDARIZ only walked away with one Goya for his film OBABA, despite 10 nominations.
FERNANDO LEON's film PRINCESAS won three gongs, including Best Actress for Candela Pena and Best Newcomer for MICAELA NEVAREZ.
Oscar Jaenada was named Best Actor for his portrayal of Spanish flamenco star CAMARON in JAIME CHAVARRI's biopic CAMARON.
Meanwhile, Woody Allen garnered the Best European Film Award for Match Point, which is set in London.
