Scorsese To Quit Hollywood
Director MARTIN SCORSESE has quit making Hollywood blockbusters so he can concentrate on documentaries and short films.
After big budget hits GANGS OF NEW YORK and THE AVIATOR, the 63-year-old wants to slow down when SILENCE - about Portuguese priests who move to Japan in the 17th century to convert the country to Christianity - is completed next year (06).
Scorsese wants to focus more on documentaries, like his recent film about rock legend BOB DYLAN.
He made the announcement at the Marrakech International Film Festival in Morrocco.
Scorsese is currently working on the $90 million (GBP50 million) movie THE DEPARTED, starring JACK NICHOLSON, MATT DAMON and MARK WAHLBERG. He then plans to make Silence.
