ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is currently in the midst of plans to take on his first movie role since becoming California Governor - in the sequel to his 1994 smash hit TRUE LIES.
JAMES CAMERON had originally expressed interest in returning to the project only as producer, but is now planning to direct TRUE LIES 2 once Austrian-born Schwarzenegger finishes his current term as Governor.
Cameron is now in talks to re-team True Lies co-stars JAMIE LEE CURTIS, TOM ARNOLD and BILL PAXTON with Schwarzenegger, but all casting has yet to be finalised.
In a 2003 interview with IGN FILMFORCE, Schwarzenegger had expressed issues with the sequel, explaining, "The script is written, but as you know, after 9/11 happened, Cameron was worried because there's an airplane scene - a terrific airplane scene - that didn't have anything to do with the terrorism that we had in 9/11, but it was a great fight scene inside the plane while the plane goes down and this kind of thing.
"It was a very important moment in the movie, and he felt like he can't do that and therefore has to rewrite it... These things take a long time."
