Schindler Factory To Become Art Museum
The factory which inspired the Steven Spielberg movie Schindler's List is to become a museum housing works of art and a permanent exhibition dedicated to OSKAR SCHINDLER - the saviour of hundreds of Jews during World War II.
Schindler set up the factory during the holocaust and employed Jews to save them from death camps - it is estimated he rescued a total of 1,200 Jews. He died aged 66 in 1974.
The 1993 film won seven Oscars.
Local authorities are hoping to secure $1.8 million (GBP1 million) of European funding towards the project which is expected to be passed later this year (05).
