Sayer Hits No 1 After Long Hiatus
Seventies singer LEO SAYER has returned to the top of the UK singles chart - after a 29 year hiatus.
The curly-haired star's 1977 song THUNDER IN MY HEART has been remixed by DJ MECK and after being a huge hit on the dancefloor, entered the singles chart at number one yesterday (12FEB06).
Sayer's last number one was WHEN I NEED YOU in 1977.
The track knocked late rapper NOTORIOUS BIG's song NASTY GIRL off the top, while THE ORDINARY BOYS re-release of BOYS WILL BE BOYS stayed at number three.
Meanwhile, teen R+B singer CHRIS BROWN slipped from number two to four with his debut UK single RUN IT and eighties band DEAD OR ALIVE's YOU SPIN ME ROUND stayed at five.
In the albums charts, ARCTIC MONKEYS' debut disc WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT stayed at the top, despite a new release from BELLE + SEBASTIAN.
