Saving Private Ryan Scores Best Opening
The dramatic Normandy invasion scene at the beginning of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN has been crowned the greatest opening movie sequence of all time.
The World War II film - directed by STEVEN SPIELBERG and starring TOM HANKS - beat out competition from QUENTIN TARANTINO's PULP FICTION and STAR WARS IV: A NEW HOPE in the poll by British rental firm CHOICES VIDEO.
The company's spokesman JOHN PARTRIDGE says, "The films of Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarantino couldn't be more different, yet between them they account for half of our ten favourite movie openings."
Spielberg movies JAWS and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK also landed places in the top five.14/05/2004 02:30
