Sahara Tops Us Box Office

Penelope Cruz and Matthew Mcconaughey's new movie Sahara debuted at the top of the US box office, with the an opening haul of $18.5 million (GBP9.7 million).

The previous weekend's number one movie, Sin City, slipped to second place with $14.1 million (GBP7.4 million).

Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon's romantic sports comedy Fever Pitch opened in third place with a so-so $13 million (GBP6.8 million).

Comedies Beauty Shop and Guess Who tied for fourth position with $7.1 million (GBP3.7 million), followed by animated adventure Robots, which took in an additional $4.65 million (GBP2.4 million).
