Roman Polanski To Film Oliver Twist

OSCAR-winning director ROMAN POLANSKI's passion for using dark subject matter in his movies is taking a backseat for his latest project - a feature version of CHARLES DICKENS' classic OLIVER TWIST.

The exiled movie-maker will reteam with PIANIST screenwriter RONALD HARWOOD and plans to make the film in Britain.

Roman admits that turning the lengthy novel into a two hour film will be difficult but, after being encouraged by his children, he looks forward to the challenge.

He says, "I love Dickens and I want to make a family movie."
