Rhys-Meyers Embarrassed By Acceptance Speech

Actor JONATHAN RHYS-MEYERS is still reeling from his Golden Globes win because he lost his train of thought in the middle of his acceptance speech.

The red-faced BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM star wasn't expecting his name to be called and hadn't prepared anything to say. He admits he blanked out when he went up on stage.

The Irishman says, "I was standing onstage and I was giving my speech and then I did the one thing that you don't do in that situation, which is stop for a second.

"Then I saw Steven Spielberg, George Clooney, Jamie Foxx and Johnny Depp (in the audience)."

He adds, "It was that moment (you have) in your dream where I had to look down to see if I was naked."

I thought it was rather endearing myself. His performance was noted in very heavy company. He wasn't the only one who stumbled,I say enjoy the moment.

Bravo, Jonathan! Honesty among actors? Think it'll catch on? I would much, much rather watch someone stumble through unprepared thoughts than posture with pretentious prepared presentations. Of course, a brief and sincere, "Thank you all, this is wonderful!" followed by a bow and exit works well too. It sure beats the "little people" speeches and political lambasts or sniping all over the place. Again, Bravo!
