Rhames Thought Twice About Acting With Andre 3000
Actor VING RHAMES was hesitant about taking a role alongside ANDRE '3000' BENJAMIN in the musical MY LIFE IN IDLEWIND, because his movie experiences with other rappers left him cold.
According to Benjamin, Rhames, who has starred alongside SNOOP DOGG in BABY BOY and JA RULE in BACK IN THE DAY, was far from impressed with the antics of his rapping co-stars in the past.
The HEY YA! hitmaker, who appears in the upcoming movie alongside his OUTKAST bandmate ANTWON 'BIG BOI' PATTON, says, "We wanted Ving Rhames in the movie, and the only way he'd do it was if he could get on the phone with me first.
"He says, 'I need to know: Are you serious about this? Because I've worked with rappers who come in and get high and blubber through lines, and I'm not going to let you waste my time.'
"I told him, 'I don't do dope, I take acting seriously, and I want to be great.'
"He's the only (actor) to confront me like that. I appreciated it, in a way. It beats people whispering."
