Reeves Wants Statues For Motown Legends

Soul singer MARTHA REEVES has kicked off her term as a city councilor in Detroit, Michigan, with a campaign to erect statues of Motown's biggest stars - including herself.

The 64-year-old, who still performs with her legendary group THE VANDELLAS, claims to have no political leaning, insisting her first priority is to recognise the achievements of the motor city's cultural icons.

She says, "I want a big statue of the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin, sitting on a throne with a crown on her heed in the city square.

"I want a statue of The Supremes in that STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE pose. I want one of The Temptations doing the Temptations shuffle.

"And why not have one of Martha Reeves And The Vandellas."
