Reed The Snapper
Rock 'n' roll star LOU REED is unveiling his digital photography at two simultaneous exhibitions in New York City.
The WALK ON THE WILD SIDE singer's first big project, which focuses on the beauty of the Big Apple, opens at both The Gallery at Hermes and the Steven Kasher Gallery today (20JAN06).
Reed claims his work is influenced by the late ANDY WARHOL, photographer BILLY LINICH and German film director WIM WENDERS, who taught him to appreciate the beauty of his surroundings.
Reed enthuses, "When I was touring around the world, I would find myself getting a chance to see things that other people might not, and I just thought it would be crazy not take pictures of it.
"I think LEONARD COHEN had a line, 'I would travel anywhere in the pursuit of beauty.' And this is the beauty of New York, and I just wanted to take pictures of that, with no motive other than that."
