TROUBLED R+B star R Kelly's appearance in court on child pornography charges has been pushed back until next week (ends29APR05).

The IGNITION singer was due in court yesterday (21APR05), but got a continuance for his pretrial hearing until 29 April, according to the Cook County state attorney's office in Illinois.

Last month (MAR05), Kelly's bid to declare the Illinois child pornography statute unconstitutional was rejected.

The star's defence argued that if it's not illegal to have sex with a 17-year-old, since that's the age of consent, it shouldn't be illegal to take pictures of a 17-year-old engaging in a sex act.

But Cook County Assistant State Attorney SHAUNA BOLIKER successfully argued that the state law-makers broadened the scope of the pornography statute and that the charges should stand, reports MTV NEWS.
