Quincy Jones Suffered A Nervous Breakdown

Music legend QUINCY JONES was so "fried" after composing the score for STEVEN SPIELBERG's THE COLOR PURPLE, he suffered a nervous breakdown.

The 72-year-old producer admits he struggled to cope as he created the soundtrack for the hit 1985 movie and his efforts turned him into a wreck.

The experience put him off scoring a film until he was asked to take charge of 50 CENT's debut movie GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN'.

He reveals, "The job was so hard and I was learning from Spielberg and I was fried. I had a nervous breakdown too. It was a lot of work.

"It was a straight musical with an hour-and-fifty-four minutes of music... I didn't listen to the radio for two years between that project, WE ARE THE WORLD, and THRILLER."
